A High-Sensitive Optical Counterpart Search Experiment
نویسندگان
چکیده
We are constructing a 0.6 meter telescope system to search for early time gamma-ray burst(GRB) optical counterparts. Super-LOTIS (Super-Livermore Optical Transient Imaging System) is an automated telescope system that has a 0.8 x 0.8◦ field-of-view, is sensitive to Mv ∼ 19 and responds to a burst trigger within 5 min. This telescope will record images of the gamma-ray burst coordinates that is given by the GCN (GRB Coordinate Network). A measurement of GRB light curves at early times will greatly enhance our understanding of GRB physics.

متن کاملA Search for Optical Pulsations from Two Young Southern Pulsars
We report on high-speed optical photometry of the radio positions of two young rotation-powered pulsars. No pulsations were detected from the optical counterpart proposed by Caraveo et al. (1994) for PSR B1509–58, with a 2σ upper limit on the pulsed fraction of < 12%, significantly lower than that measured in the five known optical pulsars. Given its low pulsed fraction, high optical luminosity...
متن کاملResults from GROCSE: A Real-time Search for Gamma Ray Burst Optical Counterparts
The Gamma-Ray Optical Counterpart Search Experiment (GROCSE) has searched for contemporaneous optical counterparts to gamma ray bursts (GRBs) using an automated rapidly slewing wide field of view optical telescope at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. The telescope was triggered in real time by the Burst And Transient Source Experiment (BATSE) data telemetry stream as processed and distrib...
متن کاملThe optical counterpart of IGR J00291+5934 in quiescence
Aims. The recent (December 2004) discovery of the sixth accretion-powered millisecond X-ray pulsar IGR J00291+5934 provides a very good chance to deepen our knowledge of such systems. Although these systems are well studied at high energies, poor informations are available for their optical/NIR counterparts during quiescence. Up to now, only for SAX J1808.4-3658, the first discovered system of ...
متن کاملArchival search for recurrent activity at the position of the gamma - ray burst GRB 970228 optical counterpart
We have examined 8004 plates at the Harvard College Observatory Plate Collection searching for optical transient emission from the gamma-ray burst GRB 970228. This is the first archival search carried out so far for a gamma-ray burst with known transient optical emission. The total exposure time amounts to ∼ 1.1 yr. No convincing optical activity was found above 12.5 mag at the expected positio...
